Tommy has spent over a decade working in the software and online media industries, having worked with industry leaders like the New York Times, Intel, Bazaarvoice, AOL, and Knight-Ridder, as well as high-growth startups in Silicon Valley and Austin, Texas.

Prior to entering the startup world, Tommy was an accomplished journalist, as an award-winning reporter for several daily newspapers and weekly business journals. Additionally, Tommy has blogged on the digital music distribution industry via the now-defunct Digital Music Weblog (now operated by Switched.com) and on matters purely of his choosing (sports, current events, music and more) at aproposdenada.blogspot.com.
Tommy holds an MBA from the University of Texas' McCombs School of Business and a bachelor's in journalism from the University of Georgia's Grady College of Journalism and Mass Communications.
A father of two, Tommy is an avid reader, record collector, runner, musician (guitar, mandolin and banjo) and barbecue connoisseur.
